Start Courses Contributing To Our Daily Lives: Dr. Samoon To IIT Principals

SRINAGAR: Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department (SDD), Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon chaired a meeting to review the functioning of Polytechnics and ITIs across Jammu and Kashmir and also assesses the progress on settlement of Audit Paras at Civil Secretariat here.

While speaking during the meeting, Dr. Samoon emphasized upon the Principals and Superintendents of Polytechnic Colleges and ITIs to start those courses in their respective institutes which are related to the daily trades and can contribute immensely in our daily lives. He directed them to use modern tools of teaching so as to develop critical thinking among the students.

Remarking that Polytechnics and ITIs can create employability avenues for students, Dr. Samoon asked the Principals and Superintendents to incept courses on marketing as well as on motivational speeches so that the students can be refurbished with those skills which can easily help them to get jobs for themselves. He directed them to start course on Wood Technology across all ITIs and Polytechnics  so that the students can be acquainted with the skills of wood calligraphy and other modern works of wood crafting.

While asking the officers to bring reforms in Polytechnics and ITIs, Dr. Samoon delved upon the Principals and Superintendents to assess the feasibility of starting Credit Based Curriculum System in the institutes so that the students can opt for higher studies after passing out from these institutes.

He further asked them to install all the modern and advanced technological equipments in their institutes so that the students can be trained as per the lines of current and innovative technology based world.

Reviewing the progress on admissions in these institutes, Dr. Samoon directed the officers to fill all the left out seats in Polytechnics and ITIs. He stressed on them to reduce drop out rates by offering those trades which are market driven with maximum chances of employability.

While assessing the progress on settlement of Audit Paras, Dr. Samoon highlighted that auditing brings financial discipline in any organisation and thereby it is imperative on all the heads of institutions to submit the same for bringing efficiency in their respective institutions. He added that auditing process is an efficient and effective way for ensuring accountability and transparent governance.
