The Director General (DG) Horticulture Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat Friday visited the under construction Apple Processing Unit at Lassipora Pulwama to ascertain the status of work with respect to DPR and as per the guidelines of MIDH Scheme.
The said visit was the outcome of discussions held during the last SLEC meeting under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary Horticulture, Naveen Kumar Chowdhary.
Later, the DG took review of the Modified High Density Plantation scheme in the district. He also visited various sites where the orchards under the said scheme are being established.
The DG appreciated the work of the department and developers/entrepreneurs. He advised all the Officers and developers to speed up the pace of plantation and make all possible efforts to achieve the allocated targets for the current year.
He further advised the field functionaries and developers to inform the farmers about the scheme by jointly organizing awareness camps.
The DG also visited various On Farm Handling and Sorting Units (Pack Houses) being constructed under the different departmental schemes and urged the farmers to follow the Departmental specification.
The DG was accompanied by Managing Director JKHPMC, Chief Horticulture Officer Pulwama and other committee members during the visit.
